Location & Lifestyle

All the beauty
of WA at your
doorstep

Located in perhaps one of the great ‘undiscovered’ areas of Western Australia, Kalgan on Riverside lies on a bend in the beautiful Kalgan River where meandering walk trails closely follow through marri trees, conifers and pastures.

Only 15 minutes from pristine sandy beaches and a short drive from the Porongurup Ranges, the area is also well known for the ‘Luke Pen Walk’ – a 9km trail that provides constantly changing views along the River, adjoining vineyards and eucalypt bushland.

A Magical River

The Kalgan River, meaning ‘Place of Many Waters’, is one of the oldest river sources in the world. The river was explored by a French scientific expedition in the early 1800’s, a voyage culminating in the charting of Australia and recording of thousands of flora and fauna species. The streets comprising Kalgan on Riverside- Petit Court and Lesueur View – acknowledge the indelible impact had on Kalgan’s history, having been named after integral crew members and their sensitive interactions with the indigenous community. A little over 215 years later after this voyage, you can have a slice of Albany’s history for yourself.
